Kirkcudbright (pronounced Kircoobree) has long been home to a busy fishing trade. Behind the working harbour and picturesque marina the wide streets with pastel coloured houses have housed generations of Artists - hence “The Artists’ Town”.
Museums, art galleries, the Marina, harbour, MacLellan’s Castle, fine shops, inns, restaurants, and indoor swimming pool are all minutes walk from our cottage.
Our cosy semi-detached cottage is in a conservation area - the oldest part of town, situated down one of Kirkcudbright’s famous closes.
Gatehouse of Fleet is set in the middle of a National Scenic Area on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park and is surrounded by spectacular coastal and upland scenery, lovely beaches and woodland walks.
Our accommodation, with private parking and WiFi access, is just minutes walk from local amenities including the Mill on the Fleet visitor centre, convenience store, excellent tea rooms, inns, restaurants and local shops.
